Finer and finer high-purity grinding stock is to be produced at an increasing flow rate in modern plants for grinding, blending, preparing and classifying powders. In addition, a low variance of the grain size distribution of the ground powder is expected.
This results in increasing power densities in the process, and consequently in a higher wear of the plants. The manufacturer of such equipment increasingly meets such challenges by using ceramic machine elements.
Aluminum oxide and zirconium oxide are wear-resistant materials with which high power densities can be realized without contaminating the process. The hardness of the material itself contributes a great deal to the grinding effect.
